Specialized staff

It was immediately evident for Cerebral Palsy Greece that without specialized, experienced and motivated staff the rehabilitation of people with disabilities would remain unsatisfactory. Thus, during the 40 years of its existence, CPG has shouldered the full responsibility and expense of a number of scholarships and has offered numerous opportunities for the post-graduate training of personnel.

We have organized 38 international seminars and conferences in Athens and have invited outstanding scientists to teach and monitor educational courses for all disciplines. These educational events have provided our country with a valuable team of experts.

In the last years CPG has organized the following three international conferences: “Learning from the child” (2003), “Education, a determining factor in the life of every human being” (2006), “The Story of Childhood” (2008), as well as a series of seminars and training courses.

The results of the five international “Life & Art” seminars were particularly remarkable as, through the miraculous media of creative expression, all the barriers that divide people with and without disabilities or people from different cultures, were broken down.

The number of scholarships and further education courses grew sharply over the years 1984-2000, a period that also saw a marked increase in the number of staff members who participated in conferences, seminars and training courses organised by other agencies. During that period CPG developed very considerable know-how, seeking to advance the scientific qualifications of its staff on an ongoing basis, the great majority of whom are still at the Open Door Centre providing a valuable core of knowledge and scientific excellence.

The years 2000-2015 have seen a marked increase in the number of training courses held within CPG, which by now has acquired the expertise to train not only its own personnel, but also the personnel of other related organizations in the fields of education, therapy, voluntary action, etc.

CPG staff currently numbers 110 persons. The majority hold responsible positions and they and the auxiliary staff serve the children directly. CPG only deploys a small number of administrative staff, depending much on top quality voluntary assistance in this area. This means that CPG turns to the fullest account the government and private contributions it receives, converting such assistance into direct aid services.
