Parents and Volunteers

The work of Cerebral Palsy Greece is founded on voluntary assistance, not as a new notion but as a stable and tested institution. The voluntary spirit that pervades all our activities springs from our founding members and our Governing Board and involves our staff, parents and children and our numerous faithful friends who never refuse their assistance.

Also, a large part of Cerebral Palsy Greece’s work is dedicated to the parents of our children, who offer us so much of their experience, wisdom and courage.

Our “Friends of Cerebral Palsy Greece" Committee, our team of advisers and our two fundraising groups are all composed of devoted volunteers. All our fundraising activities depend on voluntary action and many of our direct-aid programmes (library programme, nursery school, Respite Home, Day Centre, Workshops, Fotini Residential Home) are supported by volunteers, including members of staff who participate in many of our artistic activities (Art Club) and are always prepared to offer extra time and effort.

The basic ingredients for voluntary action are genuine concern and consistency when undertaking responsibility. There is always a need for young volunteers who possess these qualities.

A large part of Cerebral Palsy Greece’s work is dedicated to the parents of our children, who offer us so much of their experience, wisdom and courage.
The doctors, therapists, social workers, psychologist, teachers and adult programme directors, all stand by the parents to discuss and solve personal issues.

However recognizing the need for a closer and more essential approach, the Social Service organizes a series of meetings and events reflecting the needs of the parents. The eager participation of parents in these events proves their significance. The views of parents are taken under consideration in policy-making and CPG thanks them for their co-operation, their initiatives and the services they render in all of our fund-raising events.
